Viral hepatitis is a virus-mediated inflammation of the liver cells that has a significant impact on global health. It contributes to one to four million deaths each year, the majority of which are caused by hepatitis B and C. Because the viruses have a long incubation period, the disease does not present itself immediately. Therefore, recognizing the early signs of hepatitis is critical for better clinical outcomes. The World Health Organization has responded to the increasing incidence of viral hepatitis by developing a “Global Strategy for Viral Hepatitis,” which includes spreading awareness about viral hepatitis, preventing transmission, and improving access to care.
