Hello,  I recently completed MBBS,  My patient is a Hypertensive and on Amlodipine, lisinopril 5mg combination therapy for more than 10 years. (His age now is 60 years) He developed dry cough and over the course of time it has become worse. Recently when I checked his BP it is 170/100. He is a smoker, smokes about 15 cigarettes per day. 6 Months back when I checked his Bp it was 140/90. He takes tablets regularly.

No past history of CAD, CVA, DM, Asthma Mildly elevated lipid profile,  I have read that (Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers) ARBs can be used if the person has dry cough. I request you to kindly tell me what dose of ARB and which ARB should I substitute for the treatment. Can I give amlodipine 5mg Plus ARB? (if so mention which ARB and dose)? Kindly Give your valuable opinion. P.S: I have browsed the internet and found  Telmisartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5 mg as an alternative.…
