What type of Research Publication is exactly required by MCI

There has been a change in criteria for promotion of a medical teacher. For an Asst Professor to Associate Professor and an Associate Professor to a Professor. The requirement of experience is decreased for  associate professor as 4 years and for a professor 3 years. However publications are also made compulsory. They should be in prescribed indexed journals. For Associate Professor they are 2 and for  a professor  they are 4 of which 2 should be in Associate Professor's tenure.

Further they should be original publications. What is the Meaning of a Research publication for promoting a Medical Teachers?
