Researchers in the USA has developed a new novel contrast agent for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) that they claimed to be a safer alternative to the traditional one. This article briefs about the newer contrast agent. Gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCA) has been traditionally used for MRI scan. However, many studies found that gadolinium may not be safe for the patients, that may pose a significant health hazard.
Now the researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA have developed a manganese-based contrast agent called Mn-PyC3A as an alternative to GBCA.
