After the hastily posted ruling by the MCI regarding generics, merely to toe in the PM's rhetoric, there has been much talk within and outside the profession. A careful analysis led me to a conclusion, that I must write Generics without any resistance and even with a sense of satisfaction. Here is why? Think, whose fight is this anyway? Definitely not the doctors.
Its the fight of the 400 billion USD, branded Pharmaceutical giant, its super-stockists, stockists and their retailers. It is the fight that the society must wage against medications whose purity is unassured and a varying bio availability, batch to batch. Its the 'patient's' fight against his dependancy on the chemist. The Politicians and the Media are toiling laboriously to project themselves as the common man's saviour, not by doing anything creative , but by just "branding' us doctors as looters.
