The need for critical-care transports has grown in recent years as medical technology has increased the life expectancy of the patients. Several developed countries have adopted critical care transport programs which consists team of specially trained professionals that provide care similar to an intensive-care unit, all inside an ambulance while transferring patients between the hospitals.
