World brain tumor day is observed on 8th of June every year since 2000. This day was first observed by German Brain Tumor Association (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe e.V.). This is a non-profit organization which raises public awareness and educates people about brain tumor. More than 500 new cases are diagnosed with brain tumor everyday worldwide. Number of patients with metastatic tumors are higher as compared to diagnosed cases.

Brain tumor is the most common type of cancer among children. The term "brain tumor" refers to a collection of neoplasms, each with its biology, prognosis, and treatment; these tumors are better identified as "intracranial neoplasms" since some do not arise from brain tissue.
