Micra AV, a miniature pacemaker device, has been launched in India. The gadget is 93% smaller than conventional pacemakers and is entirely automated. It offers advanced pacing technology to patients with atrioventricular(AV) block through a minimally invasive approach. The pacemaker has been approved by the USFDA based on the data from the MARVEL 2 (Micra Atrial Tracking Using A Ventricular accelerometer) study that evaluated the safety and effectiveness of accelerometer-based arterial sensing algorithms.
