Case presentation A 25-year-old woman in the 36 th week of her pregnancy reported to the gynecologist with severe, acute-onset back pain and fever. She complained of a sharp and constant ache in her back. She had suffered from multiple left antecubital abscesses during the 34 th week of her pregnancy that had required drainage. The drained culture was positive for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and the patient had been treated with clindamycin.
While the patient admitted to using tobacco daily, she denied using any intravenous drugs. Physical examination revealed that the patient was afebrile, had nodules on her left antecubital fossa, and her lower back was tender to palpation. Fetal status was normal for the gestational stage.
