A group of 5000 doctors have adopted a village Namasivayapura in Tamil Nadu and resolved to make it disease free. A small village in Tamil Nadu is making a steady journey to become a healthy village soon, thanks to the young, thoughtful and motivated force of Indian doctors. “We wanted to build trust in the community and give something back”. Driven by this vision, they identified the key areas such as hygiene and sanity that need to be worked amongst the locals.
The team's plan focuses on improvement of maternal and child health along with prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases. In this regard, the group conducted a household survey and three medical camps, with patients referred to the local primary health center and other government hospitals.
