The USFDA has approved TICOVAC TM , tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) vaccine intended for active use in individuals of 1 year of age and above. It is the only FDA-approved vaccine to help protect U.S. citizens against the TBE virus while traveling to or living in TBE endemic areas. TICOVAC TM is an inactivated whole virus vaccine . The sequence and structure of the virus subtype match those found in nature and, therefore, helps induce neutralizing antibodies against the natural TBE virus.
