We are talking about whether physician should charge consultation fee from his fellow colleagues or not? I had a different problem. I have worked as a Professor of Forensic Medicine in a medical college. I had two duties- give an opinion  in a medicolegal case even if  a case is coming from a hospital of a fellow colleague. Second, to conduct examination of students.

The issue is related to both. Clinician colleagues(in private practice) would not charge consultation fee from  me  for  myself and for my family members ( I have been  teacher of some them also), In turn there expections( they would say it in more than one ways) would be either to help ( albiet, unethically and even unlawfully) them out in cases coming from their nursing homes  and or help their wards (sons, daughters, niece and nephew etc)  in examinations. How for justified it was ethically and legally? Prof B.D.Gupta
