As in many developed  countries, working hour regulation is catching up faster in our country also. Though this is certainly  going to augment the patient safety concepts, it is going to pose challenge in training candidates in some of the surgical specialities such as cardiovascular surgery, in which many a time, the operative time for a single patient may exceed non-stop 16 hours easily - esp in aortic operations, complex congenital cardiac operations, redo open heart procedures, etc.
