A 16-year-old girl was declared pregnant after undergoing testing at a civic hospital in Dombivli, with her family alleging that the pregnancy tests were conducted without the consent of the girl or her family and questioning the accuracy of the results. The Class 12 student was taken to the hospital on July 30 with complaints of low haemoglobin and heavy bleeding. According to the allegations raised by the family, two strip tests and a sonography were conducted to determine whether she was pregnant. The family alleged that they were subsequently informed that the teenager was pregnant despite not having consented to the tests.

They later claimed that a pregnancy test conducted at a private hospital produced a negative result. Following the family’s objections, an inquiry was ordered into the incident. The issue was also raised during a meeting of the civic body’s Standing Committee.…
