A five-year-old girl from Rajsamand district in Rajasthan has successfully recovered from severe Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) after undergoing 90 days of intensive treatment at a hospital in Udaipur. Admitted in critical condition with progressive weakness in her legs, the child rapidly developed respiratory muscle paralysis, requiring prolonged ventilator support. GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and potentially life-threatening breathing difficulties.
The medical team initiated comprehensive treatment, including five doses of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), with IVIG therapy alone costing nearly ₹2 lakh.
