Teledermatology (TD) is one of the most frequently used physician's medical services in dermatology, and a distinct alternative to face-to-face (FTF) consultation, involving the use of telecommunication resources to support "patient" and "provider" healthcare. Advantage of TD Rural areas have limited or no access to the special care units, which further becomes complicated due to limited contact and transport. TD  reduces transportation and miscellaneous expenses leading to an evident cost-saving for patients as well as physicians.

TD may be used for screening or triage of melanoma, skin lesions, leprosy, and cases such as leishmaniasis.
