Therefore, novel pharmacological treatment options are urgently needed for the management of this condition. In this regard, a recent study published in The Lancet reported that Administration of brexanolone injection for managing post-partum depression showed significant clinical reductions in Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAM-D) total score at 60 hours compared with placebo.

Furthermore, the study suggested that brexanolone injection is a novel therapeutic drug for post-partum depression having the potential to improve treatment outcomes in women with this disorder.
