A 35 year old woman on treatment for Grave’s disease, develops high grade fever of 4 days duration. Though she is treated with intravenous cephalosporins, she develops a reddish lesion with a necrotic centre on the right cheek. On examination she is febrile, blood pressure 130/80 and respiratory rate 18/minute. She has painless submandibular lymphadenopathy. Investigations reveal leucocytosis and elevated CRP. Blood glucose, kidney and liver functions are normal.
Weil-felix test and ANA are negative. No abnormality is detected in imaging studies of abdomen and chest. Purulent discharge from the lesion yielded Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Name the lesion? Source: International Journal of Infectious Diseases.
