In the wake of COVID-19, the Union Health Ministry has taken a move to develop a portfolio of therapeutic options for better management of patients with COVID-19. The Health Ministry announced that a portfolio of therapeutic options is being developed based on 13 clinical trials of repurposed drugs and apply traditional knowledge using the modern medicine approach. The Union Health Ministry also mentioned that the main focus would be to facilitate the development of a vaccine against the novel coronavirus. Globally, around 145 Β and 35 vaccine candidates are under pre-clinical and clinical trials, respectively.
