Precision medicine is an approach to patient care in which clinicians combine genetic risk factors with patient’s clinical information in proprietary algorithms. The below article presents a case of the woman who, following orthopedic surgery, suffered from uncontrolled chronic pain and was subsequently labeled a drug seeker. Case Presentation A 54-year-old woman was referred for the treatment of severe and chronic calf pain. The patient underwent a right knee arthroplasty one year ago.

Subsequent to surgery, she experienced severe pain in the right leg and posterolateral aspect of the knee with the sensation of numbness and weakness. For immediate control of pain following surgery, the patient prescribed with oral oxycodone 10 mg and acetaminophen/oxycodone 10/325 mg four times a day.
