Court denied compensation of Rs 1.5 lacs for mental torture and agony to consumer who filed case just for not refunding of cost of test whose facilities was not available in a private hospital. However, cost more than actually paid was refunded but complainant filed for compensation of his mental torture and agony which was denied with remarks "Forum is not meant to enrich greedy consumer". In my view, it will prove to be a historical judgement for the medical profession in minimising unnecessary litigations by greedy consumers.
