Adenosine Deaminase in ascitic fluid (40 units) was increased in a girl of 14 years with ascites after ruling out cardiac, renal and hepatic causes. So, it has been decided to start treatment for Tuberculosis. Unfortunately, we cannot start the drug because of the nonavailability. Referred for Anti TB drugs. Since there is no lesion in the lung and not satisfied, the anti TB drugs not started.
In the mean time, the patient was not coming for follow up for more than one month. At last, when referred to higher center, the diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis which was not there- echo taken initially, was made out and anti TB treatment started at last roughly after four months.
