AIIMS has constituted an inquiry committee following the death of a teenager with ventricular septal defect (VSD) with pulmonary atresia, a complex congenital heart condition for which the patient had remained under medical care since childhood. The patient underwent extensive cardiac evaluation, including CT angiography, conventional angiography, and cardiac catheterization, to assess the pulmonary arteries and vessels supplying blood to the lungs and determine whether corrective surgery was technically feasible. An AIIMS estimate certificate from an earlier stage documented the need for corrective surgery, with unifocalization and conduit listed as the proposed procedure.
