Antibiotic resistance has become a global threat! A mix of poor public health systems and hospital infection, high rates of infectious diseases, inexpensive antibiotics and rising affordability are some of the underlying factors responsible for increasing antibiotic resistance in India. On the other hand, clinical procedures such as chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, or major surgeries will be impossible to perform without antibiotics.
But in case of routine viral infections not prescribing antibiotics is highly recommended. As a family or consulting physician, what other alternatives should we consider for antibiotics?
