Recently I had an oppertunity to see middle aged female patient presented to me with ear pain & discharge since 2 months. She had past h/o head injury before 5 years. Imaging shows temporal fracture with bledding from ear subsided after couple of day. As patient does not responded to medication hrct temporal bone advised & it shows extensive osteomyelitis & destruction of bone & ossicular chain necrosis.
Considering fact pt. subjected for modified radical mastoid surgery, in f/up pt.is relived of pain doing good. Now what could be the reason of cholesteatoma in this purticular pt. is it due to temporal fracture leading epithelial in growth or classical congenital cholesteatoma as patient never had h/o ear complaint before injury?
