A 30-year-old man, who had undergone a Laparoscopic cholecystectomy 4 months back with a Senior surgeon in Siliguri, West Bengal, presented to me with Jaundice and recurrent episodes of fever. The operating surgeon was consulted in the postoperative period. He was evaluated for the Jaundice. All investigations pointed to a bile duct injury.

Neither the operating surgeon or 2 other surgeons he referred the patient to revealed the bile duct injury. Now, he has already developed secondary biliary cirrhosis. My question is when we talk about patients being unruly and assaulting doctors, are these doctors being honest and ethical or is their collective behaviour criminal towards the patient?
