Cardiovascular diseases are leading cause of morbidity and mortality among the Indian population. Doctors play a vital role in the assessment of risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases and accordingly plan necessary intervention. Some of these risk factors like the family history, ethnicity and age cannot be changed.
However, risk factors that can be treated are smoking, alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes, and unhealthy diets. This survey is a step towards understanding the current methods of assessment used for prioritizing the risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases.
