We live in a vibrant and civilized society. Religion is the oldest way of grooming a human being in a particular manner imbibing certain values, beliefs and a set of ethics placing some restrictions on our conduct. After religion, ours is the profession where ethics are discussed to a large extent. Maybe there are deficiencies on our part and we tend to overlook! A patient goes for his or her treatment either to a private doctor or to a public hospital.

In some cases, the patient does not survive inspite of best efforts of the treating clinician. I know of a private doctor a surgeon who will invariably attend the funeral of his patients as a good gesture who unfortunately died whether while under his care or later.
