Recently a presentation by Dr. Sheetal regarding Liver was published on this site. In response & support for the same, I fully endorse to increase awareness about Organ Donation. There are various points which need to be taken care of. First & foremost increase awareness among medical fraternity . What are the percentage of Doctors have been registered for OD? Very few I suppose.
Secondly of course to increase awareness among the general population . In addition to individual, relatives need to be convinced to get registered as after death, deceased' relatives have to give consent. An important point in our country is financial aspect . Brain dead patient has to be kept in ICU on Ventilator which demands more spendings. Who has to bear the expenses in case it has to prolong hospitalisation for in waiting Organ Transplant? Ideally, receipt or hospital or NGO has to bear the cost.…
