A 27-year-old male patient reported with a chief complaint of fatigue, dyspnea, repeated episodes of vomiting and lightheadedness. He had fever that suddenly spiked 4 days ago. His urinary frequency was higher than usual, about 10 times/day.
Physical examination revealed Normal body mass index Vital signs within normal limits Minimal edema in the lower left extremity Peripheral blood exam showed Elevated leukocyte count Metabolic acidosis with a pH of 7.2 Reduced C-peptide level Random blood glucose examination exhibited a blood sugar level of 360 mg/dL.
