I had the opportunity to be an examiner for BDS under the category of General Medicine paper, some few years ago in a private dental college which is also having a medical college with post-graduate degrees. While examining the students when they were not able to answer the questions like how will you do percussion in a respiratory case given, a lot of students did not know how to do it practically. They were not able to answer even the basic questions like parts of Stethoscope and uses and I felt I am indirectly insulting my internal co-examiner and teachers and stopped such questions.
But this is the problem which everyone interested in the improvement of medical education in our country should know and should not shy away from the basic facts.
