A newborn baby girl born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia which was diagnosed antenatally was denied treatment after birth. Parents were aware of the condition before birth of the baby as it was detected on ultrasonography of the pregnant mother. Parents were also aware that baby will need surgery after birth and they had agreed and accepted the treatment of the baby.

But soon after the baby was born and the parents were informed that baby is a girl, they denied treatment even when all the consequences of not treating the baby were informed which involved definite death of the baby without treatment.
