The majority of patients with asthma can achieve disease control with standard therapy. However, approximately 5-10% suffer from severe, inadequately controlled asthma. Biological therapy is a promising targeted therapeutic option for such patients with severe asthma. These targeted therapies have been shown to reduce asthma exacerbations, improve lung function, reduce oral corticosteroid use, and improve the quality of life in selected patients.
