Sterilization is one of the most important and basic criteria of any surgery but as far as ophthalmic surgery is concerned it has a special value. Supposing there are any lacunae in any part of ophthalmic instruments sterilization and a patient is not investigated properly and there is an intraocular operation, one may face complications. The most dreaded complication is intra ocular infection or endophthalmitis.
It is not only the sterilization of eye instruments that is important we have to have proper disinfection of OT to the patient a whole has to be examined.
