During a routine oral screening, a white leukoplakic patch (size: 9 mm x 3 mm) of tissue on the left ventral surface of the tongue was noticed in a 62-year-old female. She was unaware of its presence. The patch was not tender to palpation, could not be scraped off. She was recommended to come back for follow-up to assess presence of the patch. At the follow-up after two-and-a-half weeks, the lesion was still present.
Her PMH is non-contributary. She is taking Vitamin D supplements and reports no other changes or concerns. What could be the possible diagnosis, and the recommended treatment for this case? *This case is from Docplexus Editorial Team for educative purpose only.
