We are in the era of subspecialties, where we have different subspecialties like pediatric ophthalmologist corneal surgeon, LASIK glaucoma neuro-ophthalmology, oculopathy v r surgeon. In past when such subspecialties were not in action, an ophthalmologist would operate any ocular problem. At present, general ophthalmologist though less in number is in a position to diagnose all types of ocular disorders.
Then if they are met with any vitro retinal or any other subspecialty disorder, they are in good position to refer them to expected subspecialties for better management. Share your opinion.
