Performed by ophthalmologists, as a matter of fact, it has become a subspecialty and these days this type of surgery is performed by squint expert. As far as anesthesia is concerned type of anesthesia should always bee general squint in pediatric age group has to be general 100 percent but I even would like general in adult age group also as when we pull the muscle as is often an entity in squint surgery. There is a factor of oculogyric crisis this factor is eliminated in g anesthesia but if surgeons are doing this surgery under local then there is always a factor of oculogyric crisis which has to be kept in mind.
I have seen many surgeons doing squint surgery in adults under local. However, my opinion is different I do it under g anesthesia. Share your views.
