The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet is well known for lowering blood pressure in individuals with diabetes and other health conditions. Researchers have developed a modified version for individuals with diabetes, called DASH4D, by reducing carbohydrate intake and increasing unsaturated fat compared to the original DASH diet. A clinical trial evaluated DASH4D’s effectiveness in improving glycemic control among 89 participants with type 2 diabetes , comparing it with a typical American diet. After five weeks, DASH4D led to a notable reduction in mean glucose levels (-11.1 mg/dl) and an increase in time spent within the target glucose range (by 5.2%).
