A recent study published in Diabetes Metabolism Research and Reviews showed that probiotic supplementation could reduce the size of diabetic foot ulcers. The study was conducted on 60 patients with Wagner Grade 3 diabetic foot ulcers who received either probiotics or placebo for 12 weeks. It was observed that probiotics significantly reduced the length, breadth, and depth of the ulcer compared to placebo.
A positive effect was also observed in the serum insulin concentration, fasting plasma glucose, and HbA1c concentrations. Source: Podiatry Today
