Robotics has long taken its places in the surgical field. Now it adds more feather as the days progress. Recently once such news has got my ear. Scientists in Boston, USA have developed a robotic implant that can help stunted organ regrow. It has reportedly increased cell proliferation in the stunted part of the esophagus and helped the part grow by 75% even when the host is awake and mobile.

The Boston scientists are now planning to use the robotic implant for lengthening the part of the intestine in Short Bowel Syndrome. The implant is also aimed at long-gap esophageal atresia where surgery leads to complications like bone fractures and blood clot due to medicine-induced immobilization. Source: Times of India I think this implant can revolutionize GI surgeries in upcoming years once it is approved. Share your opinion in this regard.
