Over 75% of doctors across the country are reported to have faced at least some form of violence, estimates Indian medical association. Recently, a gynecologist in Pune was attacked by a man with a sharp weapon after he refused to medically terminate the pregnancy of the woman on the suspicion that she was more than 20 weeks. Fortunately, the doctor is out of danger and the attacker was arrested.
But, for how long will this extreme lawlessness will be continued? Shouldn’t be there any law to protect doctors from such circumstances?
