Healthcare professionals (HCPs) are at a high risk of contracting the SARS-CoV-2 infection due to close contact with COVID-19 infected patients in healthcare settings. Excluding COVID-19 infected or suspected HCPs from work for an extended period can affect the healthcare system. However, certain restrictions are required to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in healthcare settings. In this regard, we will discuss the recent guidelines issued by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the return-to-work criteria for COVID-19 infected or suspected HCPs.
Based on the CDC guidelines, COVID-19 patients can be classified as patients with mild illness, moderate illness, severe illness, and critical illness.
