An 11-year-old girl was referred to us with the following complaints: Main complaints were C/O Head ache vomiting for 4 days Fever for 2 days Generalized seizures while on transport to the hospital She had a tour from school for four days. They gave a history of bathing in the pond during the tour. No prior history of ear discharge , contact with tuberculosis . No history of trauma.
O/E Breathing was shallow Pulse 58/mt Blood pressure above 95th centile EMV score 8 Papilledema present Eye ball movements full, Pupils reacting, both equal size Neck stiffness plus Plantar upgoing and deep tendon reflexes were brisk on both sides Temperature 100 degrees F A provisional diagnosis of encephalitis syndrome made.
