Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by repeated traumatic injury to the brain. It was first identified in boxers, and later it was also found to affect contact sports persons, military personnel, and victims of domestic violence. Impairment of cognition, mood and behavior, and accumulation of p-tau protein are the characteristics of CTE. Structural imaging tests and evaluation of symptoms are the main diagnosis methods of CTE. However, post-mortem autopsy is the definitive diagnosis of CTE. Supportive treatment is the major modality to manage CTE.
