Clonidine and Dexmedetomidine are effective adjuvants in spinal and epidural anesthesia for cesarean section and painless labour, especially in PIH, preeclampsia, and eclampsia. They provide zero respiratory depression, stable hemodynamics, and adequate, prolonged pain relief. Clonidine was considered the drug of choice for pregnancy-induced hypertension and preeclampsia during the 1980s and 1990s.
For painless labour, a single epidural dose is often sufficient. Please try and share your experiences.
