The Delhi Assembly’s Petitions Committee on Friday ordered an investigation into allegations that some super-specialty hospitals had been paying doctors, nursing homes and smaller hospital commissions to refer patients to them. Taking up a new petition submitted through Hari Nagar MLA, the Petitions Committee told the Delhi Medical Council and the Delhi government’s health department to conduct a full-fledged probe into the allegations, according to Delhi Assembly sources. The petition was based on an investigation carried out by Cobrapost, an online news organisation, that found many hospitals across the country were allegedly giving commissions to individual doctors, nursing homes and small hospitals for each patient referred to them.
Though the petition does not name the hospitals, the Cobrapost report has been attacked with it, a source said. Share your views.
