The Haryana State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Panchkula recently upheld the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission’s order holding a Sirsa-based hospital, a physician, and a general surgeon negligent in a laparoscopic cholecystectomy case. The ruling arose from a complaint filed by a patient who developed serious postoperative complications following gallbladder surgery at the hospital. The Patient, Her Condition, and Treatment Journey The patient approached a hospital in Sirsa in July 2013 with complaints of right-sided abdominal pain. After investigations, she was diagnosed with cholecystitis with cholelithiasis and advised a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
