There are many syndromes that are associated with congenital hand anomalies. One of the most common syndromes to be associated with limb anomalies is VATER or VACTERL association. As its name suggests, it is not a syndrome, rather it is an association of disorders. The limbs usually develop between 4-5 th weeks of gestation. Along with the limb, other major organs develop at the same time.

Something goes wrong the embryological process at this time which causes a developmental issue in these organs and limbs.
