Today morning while surfing through the newspaper the editorial headlines caught my eye.- " WHEN DOCTORS TAKE BRIBES". I saw the writer and found that he is a senior consultant Critical care in one of the prestigious hospitals in Delhi. Even though the editorial has been written with the best of intentions and may have substance also, I wonder should we write these things in newspaper and media. Enough of the damage has already been done - Starting from stories of negligence ( proven or not proven) and poor infrastructure of govt hospitals. The image of the medical profession has already nose-dived.

The doctors are being assaulted and killed. Even though I do not defend a few black sheep and do not deny the existence of certain undesirable practices in the profession. But criticism in the media will backfire and will not help. There are certain unethical things but these are part of…
