Many of us working in public or private sector are also honorary office bearers for the professional organisations. While there is absolute clarity that industry sponsorship directly to an individual in no form is permissible and ethical but what is the legality about an educational grant by a company for supporting a group of expert on behalf of associations for developing guidelines or for industry sponsorship of the annual or monthly conferences/ CME. In most such situations, the industry is a passive partner as far as science is concerned. They do not dictate any sessions or speakers except may be for a cleraly identified time for a sponsored session.
